About Me

Hi, I'm Amy, the owner of Amy Sapphire Photography :)
Basically, I live on the south coast of England in a cute little flat with 2 of my best friends and I absolutely adore photography. My passion for it first started in one of the units in my second year of University (my degree was television and broadcasting) and I loved photography from the first second the lecturer started talking. I completely changed my mind from wanting to be a television producer to wanting to be a photographer and I havent stopped since. When I'm not taking photos or on photoshop, you will probably find me with a cup of tea in one hand (or possibly a glass of wine) and some sort of craft in the other. I have done many many crafts but my current favourites are crochet and making rag rugs. I am a Canon girl, never been tempted by Nikon, Love my little Canon :) I have recently got myself a job teaching photography in workshops at local schools, ranging from primary schools to A-level. I'm very excited to be teaching something that I love and am so passionate about. I will let you know how it goes when the job properly starts.

I mainly work in 3 areas of photography, Music, Portraits and weddings. I also do product shoots for friends and family but its not something I want to do professionally.

Portraits - Portraits are what sparked my interest and love for photography at the very beginning. I loved the challenge of capturing some-ones personality or life in a single image. I mainly take the person i'm photographing out on a location (e.g. the woods, seaside, industrial place) and use natural lighting and props to tell the story of who the person is. I also encourage the use of costumes to make each shoot unique and always ends up soo much fun. I dont know what to say other than that I could happily just take portraits for the rest of my life and die a very happy woman.

Music photography - I work for 'Bring the Noise UK', who are an online music magazine. Its not just the free tickets and the chance to get very close to the acts that I do it for, but also for the rush you get knowing you only have 3 songs to get amazing photos which capture the musicians and crowd perfectly in that moment. you can see some of my work on their website. I also do promotional shoots for bands, but this has mostly been friend's bands so far.

Weddings - I'm quite new to the world of weddings but so far i'm really enjoying it. I'm a big softie at heart so I like to capture all the romantic and lovey-dovey stuff that comes with weddings and couples. You could say my style is non-intrusive and sightly documentary, as I try not to interfere with the day to make all the guests relaxed and themselves.

Soooooo.... there is a bit about me and my photography, I hope you enjoy my blog and I'd love to hear from you.
